Sydney Newborn Photographer
Newborn baby photography…natural, simple and heart-warming
The few weeks following a baby’s birth are so incredibly special – capturing your newborn in a beautiful photo is something you’ll love forever, especially when your baby changes so much from one day to the next at this stage.
My newborn sessions are super relaxed, as are the photos. I don’t do studio posed baby pictures, instead work with natural daylight in your own home, led by your baby, who can be asleep or awake - we go with the flow.
My style is fluid and natural, focusing on those distinctive newborn moments.
I recommend booking your session ahead with your due date so I can keep some time free a couple of weeks before and after your due date. Two weeks after the birth works well, however we can do your session within a few weeks or whenever you’re ready.
We shoot at your home at a time to suit you and your family, but there’s no pressure to tidy up – I’ve had newborns, I know the deal - the smallest space can be just perfect.
Newborn Photography
Newborn baby photography sessions work well up to 3-months old, though I can work around this to suit your needs with a new baby. I book on your due date and schedule in a couple of weeks around it to block off time. I usually shoot in your home and all I need is a window with daylight and somewhere comfy – no need to tidy up, I know what it’s like with a newborn! I allow a lot of time for newborns and I am guided by their schedule. Sleeping, awake, feeding, whatever they need, I can workaround.
My booking process is super easy, just like our shoots. We are fully set up online with all the info you need and will discuss with you in real life or on email, where you’d like to shoot and the vibe you’re after.
Booking process – the need-to-know basics
Newborn shoots, please enquire via email so I can save time around your due date.
Once a booking request is created, a deposit of $250 is required to confirm the booking. Payment is required within 48 hours, otherwise, the booking expires. I only take a few bookings a week so enquire early to avoid disappointment.
Pre-shoot consultation
Once the booking is paid in full, and therefore confirmed, you’ll receive an invitation to our online welcome guide where you’ll find tips on how to prepare for the session, what to wear (the most frequently asked question) and more, as well as a questionnaire to introduce your family, and a model release form.
I will be in touch to discuss ideas for the shoot as well as a location, via email or phone. Feel free to ask any questions as we go through the process. Knowing what you’d like from your photographs, and how you may use and present them – a print, frame, photo book or just digital photos to share, ahead of time is really helpful so we create photos you really love.
Editing
Your photographs will be lovingly edited. I spend a great deal of care editing each photograph – creating both a colour and black and white version of each image. The hours spent in post-production result in a series of striking images that will work well together as a series, or that can be printed or framed individually.
Retouching
Within your package comes an edit of your photos from over a few hundred photos taken. I make sure the images look great by balancing the colours and tones. Should you wish to have any beauty retouching done – for example, a hair out of place, remove something from the image, spots/pimples, or resize – basically a little boost to the photo, please enquire and I can give you an estimate of the price.
Viewing your photographs
Within 3 to 4 weeks, the images are emailed via a password-protected private gallery for viewing and selecting your images or for downloading.
Your edit will include all images in colour and black and white, and both high res for printing and low res to share online.
I strongly believe in printing the images to have a physical copy, so your gorgeous photos don’t disappear down the photo file rabbit hole.
You can order prints and products directly from your gallery.
I am not here to do a hard sell - you’ll have the option when the final files are delivered to look at options yourselves on the website.
“I would recommend Elena to anyone, she makes you feel very at ease, like an old friend.”

FAQs
-
I am always happy to reschedule if the germs doing the rounds have taken hold, just get in touch and we will work something out.
-
Whenever you’re ready! Anytime up to three months. I don’t wrap babies so they don’t have to be super tiny, they’ll be in your arms. Two to four weeks is a great time to capture that very, very newborn look and movements, but I am not super prescriptive.
-
We usually shoot at your home and your comfort is our priority, so if we’ve planned to shoot some photos outside, I’ll judge the weather and make a call. As long as there’s enough daylight in your home, we’re good to go.
-
I usually shoot in the comfort of your own home. Every home is different, and I like to make the most of natural daylight so keep an eye out for when you think your home gets the best/most natural daylight and we can arrange around the light, and of course your baby.
-
Absolutely. I offer custom-designed albums, keepsakes, and professional prints that you can order directly from your gallery after the session.
